The 2020 Journey to the Soul retreat will be held at the University Place Hotel and Conference Center, located at 310 SW Lincoln Street, in the heart of downtown Portland.

The retreat will begin on Sunday, July 26th, 2020, 2:00 pm. The last session will end on Thursday, July 30th, 2020, approximately at 12:30pm, so book your departing flight after 3:30pm. Please plan to stay for the entire event and to attend each session.

For those flying in, plan to arrive at Oregon’s Portland Airport (PDX), easily accessible from most airports. There are several easy ways to get from the airport to the hotel.

In April you will receive detailed information to help you book your lodging and travel arrangements.

Affordable accommodations at The University Place Hotel are offered to Journey to the Soul participants at a special rate. Plan to make your room reservations directly with the hotel, letting them know that you are participating in The Seat of the Soul retreat.

The hotel features a 24-hour fitness center, on-site restaurant, complimentary hot continental breakfast, free wireless internet access, mini-fridge in room, 24-hour front desk assistance in a friendly lobby, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. On-site car rental services, airport shuttle, and permits for self-parking are available.

The hotel is just minutes away from Pioneer Square, an urban park affectionately known as Portland’s Living Room, and numerous downtown destinations, including some of Portland’s famous Food Carts areas.

Portland is one of the most exciting food cities in the country, with a devoted farm-to-table culture and an amazing array of top-quality cafes and restaurants — as well as a vibrant and growing Food Cart scene where creative chefs serve up an incredible range of affordable artisanal meals. Nosh on a fresh Baja fish taco one day, a rib-sticking bowl of traditional goulash the next, have a coffee and pastry for an afternoon snack, and then enjoy a giant Indian combo for dinner.

Because the restaurants are many and marvelous, you will be able to enjoy a wide variety of affordable, healthy options including vegan and vegetarian, either within walking distance of the hotel or easily accessible by public transit.

The dynamic city of Portland is known for its scenic beauty eco-friendly urban life, and outdoor orientation, filled with public parks and green spaces. It is also home to an unparalleled public transportation system, one of the most advanced in the country, making it easy to get around and visit its numerous attractions. Throughout downtown, you can enjoy its many sitting areas and outdoor art installations — as well as Portland’s wide variety of unique water features and fountains, from architectural masterpieces to staid monuments to whimsical sculptures.

Adding to its charm, two major rivers wind through the city — the Willamette flowing north through the city center and the Columbia River heading west into the Pacific Ocean — giving Portland a beautiful riverscape, with twelve bridges each with a different architectural style.

“I am so inspired by the warmth, friendliness, and beauty of Portland as a place to dive in and discover ourselves.” — Linda Francis
